The night penetrates the heart of the universe
Harnessing darkness in mystical depth,
As I sit by the window with eyes lost in space
My vision drawn inward to the altar of my soul.

Mysteriously melody of the night whispers
Within the core of me in silence,
The memories of unfathomable darkness
Snatch my conscience from oneness of existence.

Bad memories work its way in the dark
In loneliness they creep like parasites,
The hormones, their playground
Before one realizes it, suicide may dawn.

But, the conscience begins to shine
With the warning right on the dot
We'd better get back,
'cause it'll be dark soon,
and they mostly
come at night... mostly. "

For many, life is hell
Languishing in anguish,
Religion is a call of dead
And, faith is the rascal’s word
Years shall roll by
In changing seasons
Like fashions
Everything keeps in motion.

But, our heart
Why?
Be always buried still
Dead - beneath layers of pain.
Cry of hatred
Unto every land it creeps
Less and less love is spoken
Yet scarcely, we are void of love

Echoes from the past

In my younger and more vulnerable years

I know not if my dad knew

That his passing would soon dawn.

Like the clouds whisked away by the wind

On one fine day, my dad breathe his last

A fortnight after his soulful advice to me.

My dad gave me some advice,

“Never cheat others of their right to survive,

Always be alert of masquerading vultures”.

Advice strong carried with them the power

That I've been turning over in my mind ever since

Treading the footsteps of his words.

I knew the words spoken neither of him nor from him

But the garlands of experience garnered

Made his words wiser and strong.

Today I am here tailing his words

As hard as I can with obedience

I know I have obeyed to some extend.

Motherhood

Life exuberates with joy for the mother to be
With both hands she clasped her belly
Sensing the kicks of an unborn baby
Her thoughts merge within and within
They become two souls with but a single thought.

As she lovingly tender her caressing palms
Over the fullness of her pregnancy
The tranquility of the unplumbed space
Rushed from somewhere unknown
In tears she gracefully offers a prayer
In meditation she becomes one with the unborn.

And, two hearts that beat as one
Showers the universe
Again with hope.

Frozen tears

Ravages of war

Concealed between the wrinkles,

Thundering bullets

Cause tremor in his voice.

Uncongeniality of war

Set tears rolled down his face

At each pull of the trigger

A mother lost a son.

Years passed by without an answer

To many ‘whys’ of the past,

Gone indeed the fiery youth

In wasted blood fiercely buried.

He remembered the last moment

Of the last day of war

When he fired his last bullet

Which he mistakenly shot his own comrade.

Unbearable indeed the pain

Vague past left him not

For the memories are stitched

To the soul.

Before he cast the body

An epistle he wrote

To his dead comrade

He wished his friend would read that.

Inked with spilled sorrow

He flowed with words

Over the pages his apology rewritten

Building ramparts of unwritten tears.

He folded the letter

To the size of the envelope

Gently slid it in

And sealed with love.

The letter sat before him,

Never to be opened again,

Forever propped against a coffee mug

In tears the soul has merged with time

Only eternity bears witness to this.
